PostNet Printing Franchise Makes Entrepreneur Franchise 500 List for 20th Straight Year
PostNet has innovated, supported diverse set of franchisees to earn repeated honors
It’s always an honor for a company to receive a spot in Entrepreneur Magazine’s annual list of the top 500 franchises — but it’s simply extraordinary for a franchise system to achieve that honor for 20 years in a row. This year, PostNet accomplished that landmark feat — adding its 2013 selection to a line of Entrepreneur honors that stretch back to 1994, the first year that company was eligible for selection.
The franchise — which combines digital printing, marketing services and shipping at its Neighborhood Business Centers in the United States and throughout the world — has a simple mission: To make it easier for America’s small businesses to grow by solving their marketing, branding and logistical challenges.
“We give startups, small and medium-sized businesses a place they can come for advice about ways to build their brand and win more business,” said CEO Steve Greenbaum. “We help the businesses in our communities grow.”
Greenbaum and PostNet President and Chief Operating Officer Brian Spindel had started their own shipping business in 1983 and discovered a love for helping other people start businesses, too. At first they acted as consultants, setting up independent retail shops, but they realized the businesses they were getting off the ground would benefit from the marketing strength, vendor relationships, proven systems and business support that a franchise system could provide.
They launched PostNet in 1993; it earned its first recognition from Entrepreneur in 1994 — and it has continued to earn honors ever since.
The franchise system now has more than 300 locations in the United States and more than 700 worldwide. Its franchisees include veterans, former consultants for tech giants, ex-corporate executives, pilots and flight attendants, retired police officers and some who joined the system after having owned other franchises.
“The single most important factor for success is a desire to serve the community,” Greenbaum said. “Small businesses can transform lives, and the beauty of PostNet is that by helping our franchisees succeed, we can help whole communities succeed. There’s nothing better.”
